Here is something an Israeli posted on the internet:
"you are right all of the attention going to the professional self-made refugees is revolting because it detracts attention from the real problems facing the world - The People of gaza if they renounce violence sign a cease fire and release Shalit could have everything that they need - if they signed a peace treaty Gaza could be like Singapore - but that is patently not what they chose.

Never before in the history of mankind has a country at war made such an effort to maintain some standard of living for its enemy and never before has any army made such efforts to try to avoid civilian casualties.
Never before has any government sank to the level fo Hammas in doing its upmost to inflict maximum suffering on its own people.

Israel lifted the blockade entirely because of Hammas - it saw how Hammas profits from the blockade, via its licenses for and taxes on the tunnels. The focus will now be on Hammas's gross violation of the Geneva Convention."
Do I really need to say anything?

I think that I find disturbing is that this is all militarised. For example, there is a tape in my house. Now it is a religious praise music, but at the beginning it has IDF soldiers shouting war-cries after capturing Jerusalem. In my parents bed-room, there is a book with a picture of a solder waving a Israeli flag, as he runs out of a burning Arab village. And they still say it's a spiritual battle! To them your either Zionist or your anti-Zionist. And if your not completely behind Israel, then you are on the side of the Anti-christ. They have such a black-and-white view of the world. Either you are Christian, and are thus a soldier of god - and are justified in whatever you do. or you are a puppet of satan, and need to be corrected. Yep I have been reading stuff I mean did you read the newspaper recently. It said we should back Israel no matter what crimes it does. I even said we should ignore their crimes, as they benefit us!!! Apparently, if Israel goes down, we all go down! It all boils down to racism against Arabs, and extreme Islamophobia. It's all about preserving our Judeo-Christian heritage. That's what I see popping up non-stop. Hell even the English-defence force has recently created it's own zionist section. *sigh* Yes I do get stressed over this, but I get bombarded with it by my family everyday. If I see any of their Israeli stuff around again I think I will go mad

Could be. It's just that both principals we had were Irish (well the 2nd was Irish/Spanish), and we always celebrated St. Patrick's day. And everyone wanted to be friends with people who were Irish We also had a mixture of Catholic and Protestant students and teachers. With me coming from a protestant family. There was never any tension. So it really surprised me when she panicked. Then again, I suppose not having come from Ireland I can't really understand. The Irish history is very sad. Hopefully these 'Real' IRA, don't last long. From what I can tell, most people just want peace. But religion definitely seems to be a identity thing over there. And in my family it seems to be so too. I find the whole zionist thing really troubling. Sometimes I really don't know what to think of family members who are zionist. Especially when they have said things which could easily have come from a nazi's mouth. So yes I did read a zionist pamphlet which tried to justify the bombing of schools and hospitals in Gaza. And yes the relative did even say that children were a viable target for the IDF, as apparently they are very easily brain-washed by Hamas into 'terrorists'. I don't know what you will think of me saying this -but I can see why some in a situation like that could resort to armed-resistance. Not that I condone violence. It is completely wrong. But just think what they are going through. They're having their identities taken from them for goodness-sake. The stress they're going through must drive them insane. Maybe I'm not really thinking by saying this, but my family's blind allegiance, and that fact that they have the guts to say what they do (then Jesus loves all) -makes me really angry. Why anyone would try to justify murder is beyond me, especially that of children! Anyway that's my rant over, I hope you understand that I act like this as I have had to bear people saying some of the most hateful and disturbing things. Oh the joy of living in a brain-washed religiously fanatic family.

They've never explained why god would use conflict to bring 'final' peace. It's all god's big plan supposedly. Apparently Jesus will only come back when the Holy-land is only in 'god's chosen peoples' hands. Why would he be interested so much in a certain place in the world, and choose one race over all others? Why would god care about human matters such as these? Is he a nationalist? Does he really care about demographics that much -or even at all? Surely he would rather there were no nations splitting up humanity, let alone religions! Why would he be concerned about who wins in a senseless war, surely he would rather people lived peacefully? That's what's always bothered me, anyway.

    Amen to that brother
I've read the Bible cover to cover, so I get frustrated when people just use the verses which are fed to people all the time. The Bible is a big book – if you want to use it to convert people - read the whole thing first! Besides it's not that boring. There's all the battles described in gruesome detail. Song of Solomon – for those who need to masturbate Lot's of poetry, and interesting philosophical arguments. Besides everyone finds revelation an interesting read .
What really got me questioning my faith was when a relative of mine talked about Zionism. So basically it's meant to be god's plan to bring peace to earth. Yet the Arabs are god's foes, and Israel can justify killing Arab children – to prevent them becoming 'terrorists'. So a loving god is bringing peace to the world by backing one nation, and using it to to do war against his foes on earth!!! And it's still meant to be a spiritual battle, and Jesus is meant to love children, and have died for all -regardless of their nationality! But those who oppose him – by simply being born in the wrong place at the wrong time deserve to die! WTF
Oh and mysctism is like Lord of the Rings written by someone who is very high on lsd

    Have fun 'debating' with her
I think the only reason I got a bit obsessed with the Orthodox church was because the protestantism of my family and Catholicism of my school were so bland and boring. Well except the school's book of death I suppose I got 'seduced' by the interesting mysticism and art. It would be nice if we could rely on a religion like Christianity, but the fact that people are ignorant of the 'dark-side' of their religion really troubles me. Religion is all a bit messed up anyway I am still bemused by prophets and scripture lol well I am deist

Lol, well, it has a few definitions, mine was in reference to magic/classical philosophy/alchemy as the fifth element, out of fire, water, earth and air. It was what the stars were made of apparently. Also, in various fantasy settings its what magic is made of, so yay ^^; But it also means purest essence, which I think is how that artist was meaning it.
