Hey, just thought I'd give you a few tips on HD if you're interested.
I enjoy working there a lot more than I expected, and I wanted to kill everyone at "Dining Services." The customers, employees, and even managers are pretty chill, which I guess varies by store. The easiest way to get in is to apply in January or February for freight team, cashier, lot attendant, or garden associate (as a temporary/seasonal position). Just pick a bunch and check the boxes lol. Make sure you have some sort of resume, which it sounds like you do.
I had to interview three(!) times before I got the job. The first was a phone screening, second was an interview with the department supervisor, third was with the store manager. I positvely butchered the second one due to my anxiety and was very nervous for the third as well. To be honest, I was surprised to get the job. Definitely focus on volunteer experiences, good customer service, ability to work well under pressure, etc. Stay positive, they like that (a little too much, ugh).
I may be leaving after Christmas because school is getting very tough and I have S.A.D, which is a deal-breaker when it comes to being a cashier (not that I want to stay in that department anyway
). But I'd still definitely recommend Home Depot over Meijer, Target, Walmart, any food industry job, etc. Good luck and God bless in whatever you decide to do!
Take care,
Jay
