I definitely recommend starting off by introducing yourself. This just helps member see you are an active member and learn a little more about you.

The Chat Room is great to get to know other users, ask for help and support, or just chat about current movies or whatever you feel up to talking about! Feel free to start posting on the forums. Most are explanatory, but if you still aren't sure where to post something, just ask any Staff member.

Chit-chat is also great for random things and there are a lot of good distractions from self-harm there (lots of word games).

If you are needing immediate help with an issue, Chat Room (members and Staff will help if they are able) and LiveHelp (only if it says online where Staff only reply). This link is one of my favorites. It tells you the different support features and if it is a Staff member or user who will help.

Hope this helped a little! I personally love the Chat Room the most as it is easier and quicker to speak to people.
