How are you?

A self-harm poem I wrote...
I've got LOVE carved into my wrists
All the love no one EVER gave.
I've got memories bleeding away
So much pain in them, so I bleed them away.

Nobody understands
How I can do such a thing
They don't understand how one pain takes the other away.
It liberates me, I finally have control
See I can deal with the cuts and burns
But this emotional bleeding, turmoil
I crumble in it's presence.

Oh yes I'll scar, they'll be there forever
But I was already scared before I scratched and burned and cut
Don't judge me
For how I cope with my own unbearable pain.
It's my body, and mine alone
I'll do with it what I want, okay

I know that you don't want me hurting
But I was always this way inside
Kicking and screaming and trembling
I guess this is how it's manifest
In this way it's coming out, expressed.
Finally you'll see the pain inside!
You can't deny the scars on my wrist
You can't pretend that my blood isn't running
No, this visible suffering you can't turn your head on
Like you've done so many times...
