Hm..it's better than most, but like, there's still a few things that made me think "noo, wrong". Like, it's adequate but not ideal. If you're going for a heat mat, it shouldn't be on the back, it should be on the floor of the vivarium, since corn snakes get their heat from underneath mostly. Even then, an overhead guarded heat source is ideal, since then they can burrow if they want to cool down like they would in the wild, and not burrow and get warmer. Also that bowl isn't big enough for the snake to take a dip in. Also, it should have an actual hidey cave, since they need that if they want to feel secure. Also, the UV isn't needed at all, it'll just dissuade them from coming out. And the temperature should have a gradient from 29-30 at one end to room temperature at the other end.
As for letting the mouse defrost in water...bad idea, that makes them more likely to burst when the snake strikes/constricts
. And mouse guts smell HORRIBLE. Best just to leave the rodent out for about 4-5 hours, depending on the size of it. As for water, tap water treated with water conditioner or left out for the chlorine to evapourate (depending on how good your tap water is) will do, since buying bottled water all the time would cost a *fortune* if you're changing it every day. Also, it's a bad idea feeding them in the viv, then they associate things coming into the tank with food, (they're a bit dim). Also, the nose-to-nose thing...better to let them strike at it, helps develop a healthy feeding response. That and it's not good for them to eat bits of the aspen shavings, since whilst they usually come out the other end, it could end up causing a blockage in the gut over time, which is fatal.
All the cleaning stuff sounds good, though you don't really need a moist shedding box if your snake seems to shed well on it's own.
Lol, apologies for the essay >.>... But it really annoys me when people get things wrong.
Also, as for the mice, get a hatchling and they'll start with pinkie mice, which are featureless pink blobs, which'll ease you into getting used to the thought ^^; The bigger issue is if the people you're living with will be okay with having frozen mice in the freezer. They have a whole drawer to themselves in mine xD.
