Wow! I'm really impressed! That's a very interesting way to get interested in India! Shah Rukh, is one of my favs! The first motion picture I ever saw in hindi, was his movie, Kuck Kuch Hota Hai (I was about 5?) and he's had a spot in my heart ever since! Veer-Zaara was quite an eye-opening movie, I completely agree!
It's so nice that you're interested in helping the lower classes here out. Sometimes, anything we do, like giving donations, etc, we can't be sure it goes to the right people and that their needs are tended to. When outsiders take interest, it gives new hope, you know what I mean? Oooh! If you come here, I'd love to show you around!!!

Ouch! The heat! That's one thing I'm wondering if I can really handle about India, hahaha. But that's really cool you're still living there! I know a few people here who are from India, but I've never spoken to anyone who is currently living there, so this is really neat for me. What got me interested was actually a Bollywood movie (Veer-Zaara), and then I started watching more and more. But, I really didn't know anything about India before that, so I started to read about it. I fell in love with the culture, but I also learned about a lot of social issues in India, as well - the slums of Mumbai, the "dowry deaths", the literacy rates for women, human trafficking, etc. So, it was your wonderful cinema (and Shahrukh Khan) that pulled me in, but it was the hope that I could do something to help the less fortunate there that really has my heart. But, really, if I ever got to go to India that would be my biggest dream!

    Oh, right, yeah! Hi Jessica!
Haha, thanks! I'm from the south --Chennai (Madras), Tamil Nadu. Yup, still living here! Haven't moved yet! Lol.
That's so nice to hear! And all the way from Ohio too! I like it here too, although, I think the heat here kind of puts me off it sometimes! It's terribly hot right now! We're in the peak of summer, so it's just HOT and still and humid, with the temperature going to almost 107 F.
What got you interested in India?
How are you doing, by the way? Lol. It's very nice to meet you!!!!

Hi! You posted in my introduction thread and said you are from India! That's so great! Where in India are you from, and do you currently live there? I love everything about the country, and I'm always trying to learn as much as I can about it. =)
