Okaay. Here's what you do.
1. Click File --> Open.
2. Click Layer --> Transparency --> Add Alpha Channel.
3. Go to the toolbox and click the "fuzzy select tool." It's on the top row, fourth one down.
4. Click the area that you want to make transparent. Then, press "delete" on your keyboard.
5. There. All you have to do now is save.

I just went online and downloaded it. Lol. Hopefully it works for my laptop. It likes to reject things. Lol. So, if it does download properly, how do I do this?

It's not a dumb question at all. I had to do a lot of googling to figure it out. Well I have an editing program that I downloaded called gimp. If you have that I can tell you how to do it I don't know how to do it without that lol.

I have a really random, possibly dumb question. How did you get the picture in your signature to show up without an annoying white background? I'm trying to copy a picture with words and it's not going so well. Lol.
