Also, I never meant it was you who was saying it, but you asked me why I care about the law, and if it did become legal, maybe people would actually look up the facts about it, and not be so inclined to despise smokers.

well you said you didn't want it anywhere near you, i assumed you meant the people.

Experience is alot, but you can't base everything off it. because experience is also based alot on how you take it. I've had bad experiences with smoking and other substances, but I take things out of it, not just say "oh my god this is so horrible I hate it and people who do it".

Like I said, I respect people who make their choice to live sober, as long as they respect mine.

Well I said I disagree with your decision, I didn't say you were a bad person because of it. For a year, I sat in class next to someone who does a lot more than just weed and he was a good guy. I disagree that he does drugs, but that doesn't make him evil. I've never implied that about you either.

Just because alcohol is legal doesn't mean people don't look down on that either.

I have a lot more respect for people who make their decisions based on experience rather than what they've been told. Surely you're the same way? You don't listen to the law, so you don't follow what you're told. My experiences are personal. Every experience shapes every person's life, and the ones involves marijuana in mine are enough to put me off the thing.

Why do what the law is?
because why would I want to be treated unfairly by cops for doing something thats literally hurting no one else, why would I want to have people who are alcoholics call me bad because I smoke weed.

I don't care to the point its going to stop me, because why should I? I'm not hurting anyone lol, but it'd be nice not to have people think your some evil monster when in reality I'm not different because I choose to smoke something.

Also, I'm not being condescending, I'm just saying basing your entire opinion on what you've "experienced" in your time with weed, so if you wanna get fed up when I'm not going to take your "experience" seriously, I don't really care.

I'm happy to debate, but keep being condescending and I'll get pretty fed up.

Well if you smoke marijuana anyway, what difference does the law even make to you? It's like people who argue over the legal drinking age. I live in Scotland, I know people who've been drinking since like 12, the law isn't going to stop someone who wants to do something. I will agree that if cigarettes are legal, marijuana should be legal as well since to me they're both the same enemy. Sure, marijuana has psychological effects, but smoking is a lot more damaging to one's health, so I don't see how that is okay and marijuana isn't. Alcohol is a different ball game since it's one's own choice to abuse it. Some wine with a meal is good for you. Going out on a bender is not.

If you wanna smoke marijuana, who am I to say don't? I say I disagree, but I'm not gonna stop you.

So just because you haven't seen the positive side doesn't mean it doesn't exist? I hope your not religious.

Anyways, people are being put off by smoking cigarettes, and thats fine. I've stated multiple times I personally don't care if it becomes legal or not for recreational smoking as in drinking, because the fact its illegal doesn't bother me lol, I'd rather get the munchies and pass out rather than puke my guts out drinking. So if people don't want to smoke, thats there choice and I respect that, I'd like people to understand and respect that what I'm doing isn't any worse than someone having a drink or two daily, they say they enjoy the taste, I get arrested. How is that fair at all? It isn't, but for some reason that person can drink them selves stupid if they so choose, and I can't smoke a j to relax.

Also, your right, you can't just create more jobs simply by opening new businesses, but the actual buds of the plant are just the beginning, you can make food to gain its affects (cannabutter), eat the seeds for nutrition or just plain smoke it.
But HEMP, is an amazing thing and it makes me shake my head its not legal to grow and use openly in the US

Like I mentioned in the thread, I've encountered no positive effects of someone smoking marijuana for recreational purposes. I've encountered plenty of the negative. I don't want it anywhere near me. Here, smoking is banned in all public places and the price of cigarettes is always increasing. Pretty soon, I wouldn't be surprised if smoking was only allowed in one's own home, with prices increasing. People will be put off smoking in general, and I think that'll translate to marijana as well.

I said that if it can be used for medical treatment, then fine. If it can be used to help people in hospitals or whatever, then there shouldn't be any debate. But recreationally, I'm 100% against it.

And legalising something just so it creates job opportunities isn't necessarily a good thing.

    Your joking right?
Legalizing it would open so much job opportunities, and I'm pretty sure thats a good thing (: :P
There iss plenty of reasons why people who don't smoke think it should be legal, depends who you ask. Some people say it should be legal and controlled like booze/tobacco and salvia. Others for medical reasons and so on.
Alot of people don't think it should be legal aswell, which I respect.

I guess I don't see the point in backing something that is illegal unless there's a benefit to you. I don't deny that if something can be medically beneficial, then by all means, use it for that purpose. But unless you personally smoke marijuana, why would you want it legalised?

I think I"m the only one on the side of "pro MMJ" that hasn't openly said they DON'T smoke, maybe I'm wrong.
