    Hey Abby,
Inviting him to your birthday meal is a good idea, there will be other people around so it shouldn't be so awkward. I don't think that you love him, its probably lust, but that is still a strong emotion. When you see him, you just have to remind yourself that he is just another human being, just like you. He isn't special, he's just another friend of yours. If you say that to yourself enough times you should calm down a little. Being around your friends should also take that nervousness away also. Its a good thing that you're not going out with the guy that likes you because you don't really like him. You shouldn't date someone just to have a bf. I'm sure you will find someone eventually that likes you just as much as you like them.

    Best of luck,
    Jocie

Hey Abby, thanks for messaging me. My advice would be try starting up a neutral conversation like about school, teachers, or the weather if you've got nothing else lol. Don't make it awkward, just talk to him like you would talk to any other friend. Don't be too clingly, and don't ignore him. If you get too clingy he's going to run away and try to avoid you and I know thats the last thing you want. If you're comfortable doing this, you could talk to him and say that you understand that he doesn't like you the same way that you like him, but ask him if you can still be friends. I'm sure he will be okay with that. Best of luck, and if you have any other questions or anything please message me back.

    Have a great day,
    Jocie
