Very true! I don't plan on having one in the near future, so the job suits my lifestyle quite well. The travelling, the people, the stories... It's a dream.
Yeah, no use in spending a whole lot of money when you could have saved about half of it... My little helper is a Canon Eos 450D - which I'm very happy with. It's a great camera and I've got three lenses for it now, an 18-55mm, a 28mm wideangle and a 70-300mm macro, so I'm good to go for most things. What I am going to invest in once I get a job is an external flash though...
And yeah, definitely studio, no paparazzing for me. I never quite saw that facination with stalking people... haha :P

Ahh, yeah. All those degrees you'be been looking at sound interesting though, quite fascinating. You plan sounds good though, and if it goes well that saves you a great deal of both time and money, so all's well =)

Hmm just a bit To be honest it was a fair few years ago digital was just becoming widely avaliable and so everything was a bit more expensive... Definately reduce the costs if you can though Get the perfect lens, a decent body and the rest is down to you! What camera are you using out of interest?

Erm naw apparently they like you to have a degree, but a 3 year degree, it makes it all seem so far away, when I may just be able to jump after 2 years of being a special . Agreed a degree would be useful then... Thing is I've been looking at very very specific degrees, like 'crime and policing' haha, or slightly more general like criminology or psychology if I were to do one, I'm thinking see how the job goes, I enjoy it no point leaving

I wouldn't mind the chasing, and just imagine all the traveling you'd get to do in your life. In a way it would be perfect for me, being in the middle of the action, travelling the globe and taking pictures.
Now that is a lot of valuables to be running around with. I've talked to a photojournalist that does it a simpler way, not so expensive equipment but fantastic results. I guess it comes down to the photographer mostly in the end.
Fashion is safer though, I'd have to agree with that. I think my friends would like me to go that direction as well, not have me all over, haha.

Well theres a few ways, either just join direct, but thats a no go really, so I'm stuck on a choice with either going to uni and then joining... or just signing up with the specials (voluntary police) and then doing a few years in that and then applying, the specials meaning I'm debt free, and probably quicker, but no degree I dont knowwww
