Oooh, nice. I plan to (hopefully) intern while doing my degree or at least get into a program where they set you up with that. San Francisco State has an MA in Clinical Psychology and I believe you do some of your internship hours while doing your degree, in their clinic, and then out in the community with their connections. It's my second most desired school, with my first being CIIS, where I would have to find my own internships. Good luck, though! And congratulations on closing the distance! That's super exciting.

Well, once I get my degree, I'll need to apply for intern status, which will probably take 2-3 months to process. D= After that, I can begin working as an intern (hopefully a PAID one!), and after I've accumulated 3000 hours, I can take the exam for licensure. So I still have a ways to go before I'm a full-on MFT (marriage and family therapist). It will be nice to have an M.A., though, and to have paid opportunities! =D On a more personal note, I'll be moving back to my hometown-ish area to be with my boyfriend - we've had a long-distance relationship since September 2011, and I'm eager to get rid of the 130 mile commutes! <3

I'm sorry to hear things deteriorated like that. It's tough, because on one hand, you want to rationalize everything by saying it's due to the grief. On the other hand, you have to take care of yourself, and once someone says, "I hate you"... well, I don't feel anyone should say that when they're in a relationship. It's so destructive!

I'm glad you got to spend that time with your cat, even if it was brief and spent in a vet clinic. I can't wait to see those pictures, though! Still can't get over how cute that name is. xD

No, the incident with my cat happened when I was away on my trip to my ex (in and of itself, it wasn't an abusive relationship, exactly, but he handled his emotions immaturely and had poor emotional impulses, which led to him saying cruel things, ignoring me for hours on end because I wanted to talk out a problem, and he even said "I hate you" on a couple of instances, which I count as borderline abusive behaviours, especially since near the end of our relationship, I felt more anxiety and fear than I did love...). Painful because I missed the last two months of my cat's life but I realise if I had never gone on the trip, I would not have broken up with him. The day after I came home, my cat came up to me covered in blood, there was blood everywhere downstairs, etc. :/ Still not sure what was wrong with him but he deteriorated pretty rapidly over the following three weeks despite intensive vet care. I do feel he waited until I was home though, and for that, I am grateful.

And haha! I actually want to own a cat rescue when I'm older named Meowslow for that reason. Great minds... But congratulations on your graduation! That's super exciting! What do you plan to do with your degree once it's obtained?

And I'll show you pictures soon.

I'm sorry to hear about your ex's mother's passing, as well as your cat's passing. I'm glad you eventually realized that the relationship had to end (when I was in an abusive relationship a long time ago, I also rationalized it - spent an additional year with him that I shouldn't have). I'm also glad that you at least got to see your cat again before it passed (seems it would be more painful to hear about it while at school). Congrats on graduating in March with your BA! I'll be graduating with my MA in May, and can't wait to put my degrees to use (finally =P). I'd love to see pictures of Teagan and Maslow (loving the name - I might make fun and call it "Meowslow")!

Oh boy, so much has happened since I disappeared. Long story short, ex's mother passed away, relationship borderlined abusive in more instances than I can count, rationalised it completely ,blamed it on his mother's death, then on the distance, but after trying for over a year to make it work, I finally had to end it. My cat passed away almost as soon as I returned home from a two month trip, and considering I considered him my spirit mate and best friend and companion, a part of me died with him. I am having a wonderful time at school, however, and graduate in March with a BA. Exciting. I also have two new beautiful kittens, Teagan and Maslow (yes, as in hierarchy of needs Maslow ). How've you been?
