    Hi J-Jay!!
Although we should always try not to pre-judge people - I don't think it's wrong to be cautious. The Internet often attracts creepy people. Speaking of which - many years ago - some really old guy [In his late 60's] took advantage of my good-hearted nature by pretending to be a 14 year old boy who was being abused by his dad. I put a lot of effort into responding to that 14 year old. This went on for several months until he got bored - I guess - and told me it was all a 'big joke'. I then heard he had done that before - to other people. What a creep, eh? That experience really hurt me and COULD have caused me to shut the door on everyone - especially everyone I met on the Internet. But it dawned on me that I did NOT want to give that 'creep' THAT much power in my life. He tried to play me for a fool. And I DID feel like a fool. But really - in the end - who was the fool? NOT ME! I was just trying to be nice. Just because I was unaware of the fact that I was being lied to doesn't make ME a fool. My intentions were honourable. And his were not. That makes HIM the fool!!
[My vm's are not usually this long!! lol]
    I Hope you're having a dandy day.

Oh you're welcome, I actually admire the fact that you are honest about your age ... that takes some guts Craig
Basically , you got it in a nutshell :$ That is how I felt , and I was wrong to do so
I guess I've had one to many 'creepy' encountrers online - how prejudice of me?

Still a Happy New Year to you.

    Hi J-Jay!!
    I hope you're having a groovy day!!
    I really appreciate the apology.
    AND the friendship request.
I understood WHY you felt as you did.
It's logical that a teenager would 'wonder' why
some 'old guy' is on a teenhelp site.
    If I was a teen - I'd wonder why.
And because of that - I have always tried to be open and honest
about who I am. My age - for instance - is posted on EVERY message I post. Along with my
picture. [Which probably scares more people than my
age!! haha] I never wanted ANYONE to think that I was pretending to be
someone that I was not. Even before I posted my very first message -
over 8 years ago - I KNEW that I had a credibility problem and that I was
going to have to be especially careful about what I said. I decided that I had
no choice but to be exactly who I am. I never wanted any TH member
to feel 'tricked' by me - or anything like that.
    THAT SAID...
You should always ask questions. You should always follow your 'gut'.
IF something - or someONE - makes you go 'Hmmm' - you SHOULD take the
time to stand back and see what's going on.
    Thanks for being my friend.
    GREAT BIG HUG
    Craig!!

    Hi Smiley

I didn't think you were being mean. In fact - I understand your concern. I would 'wonder' the same thing about me if I were in your shoes.

I never think of there being snow in the U.K. That's silly - I'm sure. But I just think RAIN!! It was snowing in Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA where I'm from just last week. It was VERY cold too. But now it's back to the usual drizzle and damp and gray! [At least in the winter] The summer months are very nice - warm and sunny. Victoria even has palm trees!! Imagine that!! lol

    Take care of yourself,
    GBH
