Well most of the things I found were teddy bears, I think I saw 3 items of "sexy" nightwear, which really wasn't sexy... Teddy is still more Teddy BEAR than underwear me thinks xD..

lol, I've heard rubber being condom over here, along with it also being an eraser xD.. but I really do not get how anyone could mistake teddy for underwear lol.. ah well

I'd never heard of the term before either, but I think that "teddy" might be one of those fun culture clashes with language (like in Australia, "rubber" as in "eraser" actually means "condom" )!

I won't talk about etymology, but I think that's basically what it is.
