aw I'm sorry about that hun. Support does go a long way and you should know that i am always available for support. Why don't you talk to her about whats happening? Tell her that you are struggling but you are trying really hard to stay on track.

I've been off with eating for the past two weeks. I find myself restricting more often. I have received a load of support though and am finding my way out of this rut I was stuck in. Support goes a long way, let me tell you. But things have been very awkward at my house because my mom interrogates me about what I eat and what I plan to eat and sometimes she wouldn't let me leave the house until I tell her what I am taking for lunch. I feel like I am losing control on that front.

Well, you tried. You can't gain anything by not trying. And I want to say how much courage it takes to speak up to a friend about your concerns. It shows how much you really care. Keep that in mind, instead of the negative thinking that you couldn't have saved him.

Have you told your friend about your concerns? Maybe he/she needs to hear where you are coming from and why you are concerned. The need to "fix things" hits all of us. We see things so clearly and just expected that our peers come to the same conclusion as us. You see that smoking leads to cancer whereas your friend may see it as a kick (the drug influence), appetite or emotion suppressor, or even something else. Don't beat yourself over what you can't control. You can't control if he/she smokes, but you can control how you act around them. For example, you can tell them about your personal experiences as well as facts to help them see your side of the situation.

thanks okay so my friend has started smoking like crazy and since like 10 people in my life have had cancer i hate seeing him willingly harm himself. especially since all my family was good and didn't smoke or anything. idk its just hard for me to not "fix" things.

It's perfectly normal to be sad. And it's okay to be sad. If you let yourself express your sadness through tears you don't get this overwhelming feeling that you should have cried more. (Or at least that is what I feel).
