Idk, I think more people use alto clef than tenor clef

The harp can sound beautiful, though. I used to know a girl that was ridiculously good at playing one. She could make it sing. Also, the one thing I regret about learning viola is that I can only read music quickly in alto clef, the most useless clef ever invented.

So many dumbarses think it's just a big violin . . . even a lot of adults, sadly. I mean, ffs, you have to read music from a different clef . . . (I figured out both alto and tenor clefs cos I had to). Glad you didn't pick harp though, I hear it's pretty insanely difficult with all its pedals and shit.

Well, "choice" isn't quite the word I'd use. When I was six or so, my parents decided I was going to play an instrument, so they started taking me to a kids' music scheme. I took up viola through that, out of a choice of violin, viola, cello, double bass, and harp. Then I spent eight years having to explain that, no, it wasn't a violin.

This was in high-school, when I had pretty much unlimited energy - which is weird considering I spent about half my time at highschool suicidal. But anyways, once I gained competence in an instrument, I sought a new challenge - the only instruments I have sought mastery in are Saxophone (when I get rich I'll sit grade 8, after playing at that standard for 7 years now . . .) clarinet, and piano. (Both of the latter I play at about grade 5/6 level with practise).

You don't meet many viola players, was that your choice?

That's a lot of instruments. When do you find time to sleep?

Anyway, I'm a guitarist. Used to play the viola too, but I gave it up in an act of teenage rebellion. As far as theory goes, though, I never did any of the official exams and so on. Pretty much everything I know about music theory, I learned from a cage fighter with half his teeth missing. I also sing occasionally, but not particularly well.

Saxophone, clarinet, piano, violin, guitar, bass . . . and I can sing. My main instrument is Eb alto saxophone. When I win the lottery I'm getting a baritone What do you play?
Oh, and I was always really good at the theory because it just made sense. When I actually *sat* Grade 5 Theory (through the Associated Boards of the Royal School of Music) I got Distinction, 90% - and my teacher confessed to being disappointed lol.

Eh, practical was always more fun anyway. What do you play?

Thank you for stroking my ego in Dervisher's popmusicrant thread

And I *would* be glad to talk about it more, except I sat grade 5 theory 7 years ago (got 90%), and since then I've been mostly focussing on practical. But I'll pick up my books again if it's pleasing to you. =]
