Well, to get any staff position, you have to have been registered for at least a month, and have at least 25 posts in the forums, plus you need to be prepared to commit a decent amount of time each week. Then you have to fill out an application form, and the members of the Talent Committee (we have several committees, they all have fancy names and are made up of experienced staffies ) look through your application, and decide whether or not they'll accept you. They might look through your activity on the site to help them decide as well. They usually look for people who are good at welcoming new people, are around the forums fairly regularly, perhaps are good enough at listening (giving advice isn't a key part of being a Buddy, but it's more important for HLM/LHO), and stuff like that. If you ever get the chance to join staff, I would most certainly advise you to do so, it's a great experience.
