Re: Dating

Hey there, you made this thread a few weeks ago and I wanted to check in. I hope you've been able to talk to your parents, and the fact they hate him based on his surname is absolutely ridiculous. It could be racist or xenophobic if it's not a 'traditional American' surname. I would strongly suggest talking to your parents, give them reasons to support your relationship with this person.

In the meantime, with those emails, I would wait until you're no longer grounded to communicate with your boyfriend. Something I came to learn many years ago is that an institution (business or educational) internet technicians (ITs) and the school administrator can track your website activity. They can see every website that gets visited on a particular computer, and every message that is sent or received from it.

You're just putting yourself at a greater risk of trouble by continuing to use the computer for non-educational purposes. Also, if your boyfriend is over the age of consent, you're putting him at risk of getting into legal trouble for communicating with a minor.

Wishing you the best of luck!

Re: Dating

thanks for the advice! Yeah, we keep it as PG as we can, but even the word "dumb" is a trigger word to my school's email security system.
My principal has stopped flagging our emails at this point, but I explain my situation of this being my only way of communication with him, and he understood as long as we kept it appropriate.
My principal said if it kept getting flagged a lot I'd lose email privileges and Chromebook privileges.
My parents knew his parents, apparently, and said their not nice people, and since they have the same last night they don't want me in the same BUILDING as him.
They're way too over protective in my opinion about my bf, but idk.

Re: Dating

Hello!

This seems like a really tough situation. I'm sorry your parents won't let you two date because of his last name. That seems super frustrating.

If your school can see the emails you send and receive you might risk getting in trouble if you continue to email him, especially if you don't keep the conversation PG. If you do continue to email him try and censor yourself as much as possible so you don't get in trouble by school administration. The principal might not be in control of him specifically since he goes to a different school, but he is still responsible for you and has authority over you. Depending on the content of the emails he can also get in touch with the principal at your boyfriend's school and talk to their administration about it. So, just make sure you're not going to face any disciplinary action if you continue to email him. If you really want to talk to him you can possibly invent "code words," but I'd still keep it PG even if you go this route.

I hope things improve for you soon!

Take care,
Dez

Dating

My crush just told me that he liked me, and blah blah blah we talked and now were dating.
I've been having a lot of urges in terms of adult stuff about him.
Like- more than I did before.
We have a two-year age gap, live near each other, but are in different schools because of the age gap.
My parents don't want me even to be friends with this guy because of his last name????
But I am.
I don't know what to do because I want to talk to him,
but our only form of communication is over school emails(until I'm ungrounded).
My emails keep getting flagged by my principal
for saying "dumb","damn", and other things.
My boyfriend always says "(insert principals name) isn't in control of me now, why is he flagging our emails" but I still go to the school, so he's in control of me.
As his girlfriend,
I seriously don't know what to do.
Pretend we're not dating and not say I love you
or still say I love you with the risk of my school seeing, even though my boyfriend doesn't care.
