There's no beginning to this story, a bookshelf sinks into the sand.
In a language learned and forgotten in turn and studied once again.
It's a shocking bit of footage viewed from a shitty tv screen, you can squint out at your snowy static to make out the meaning.
And keep on stretching the antenna hoping that it will come clear,
we need some reception, a higher message just tell us what to fear,
'cus I don't know what tomorrow brings, it's alive with such possibility.
All I know is I feel better when I sing.
Burdens are lifted from me, that's my voice rising.

Self pity will not rescue you.
Sometimes we have to save our own lives,
not because no one else cares, but because no one else can.

Life for you has been less than kind
So take a number, stand in line
We've all been sorry, we've all been hurt
But how we survive is what makes us who we are.

Dreamed up the maps, give me the charcoal and the paper
We invent paths they cannot see, and they're too scared to walk

Only after disaster can we be resurrected. It's only after you've lost everything that you are free to do anything.
