When I say muggings, I mean outsiders mugging school kids, not school kids vs. school kids. It would happen a lot in my area. What's the motivation to do this if school kids aren't carrying around $1000 of equipment on them (or more)?

You're right. Bullying will always exist, although it exists because of differences. Stopping the bullshit with every kid wanting to have the best will eliminate a stupid difference that's very easy to eliminate. There's plenty of other things to pick on though.

And parents are people. I mean... what can I say. They're adults, you can't really tell them what to do. Some might listen, most won't. I think it's a government's job to fix these sorts of problems.

"I don't care about politics"
Then politics doesn't care about you either. Truth. You've got to make your voice heard, if you want to be listened to. But that's too logical for some people, so let me go a step further. Not making your voice heard, leaves other people free to hijack it by speaking on your behalf, even if they don't actually give a shit about you. That's politics. So, make your voice heard. That's not a quote from anywhere. That's just me.
