Re: Places to meet LGBT people? - July 1st 2012, 05:05 AM

The one thing I have noticed is, around the world, that places like the USA is where LGBT identified people are bullied and discriminated against the most in schools or the workplace or even at home and on the streets. Having observed that, there seems to be a lot of support organisations and charities out there to help the LGBT community.

I've noticed in Australia, my hometown at least, that there is minimum homophobic retaliation in schools and that the general community appears to be more supporting but we have hardly any organisations or places/people to seek help from. The places that do exist are all intercity and there is usually not more than 2 or 3 over a vast area. I was reading some documents by the Government from 2004 and many things were listed and suggested by LGBT youth as services or areas/providers of knowledge and guidance lacked existence in my local area, and 8 years later these services are still no where to be found....
