Yes, it's normal and I'm sure there is a ton of people out there that want to and have done it.

I would ask before you do it though, talk to your girlfriend about it and make sure she's okay with it before you do it. If you don't, you could upset her and make her uncomfortable if it's not something she'd be okay with doing.
