You said that you are new at it, in that case I would really try to stop as soon as possible. You may think that it is helping and making you feel better but in reality it is not and it is just going to leave you with scars and reminders. I would really try to look at the alternatives that Celine mentioned. Good luck, you can

On getting cuts to heal faster
From experience and lots of research I have come up with this:
-Neosporin or some sort of antibiotic cream before bed everynight is best to both help it heal faster and to make sure it does not get infected
-You may want to cover up the cut or put a bandaid to keep it covered up but it is best to just sort of let it "air dry" and leave it open (Maybe put a bandaid for a day or two but other than that take them off.)
-A day or two after you get the cut you can start putting on vitamin E or some sort of scar fading oil, bio oil works well but pure vitamin E that you can get at a super market or pharmacy is best and fastest
~I have heard of the lemon juice to help fade scarring but I have not really heard of great results with it so it wouldn't hurt to try, but I'm not sure. If you do want to try it the only thing I have heard is wait till the cut is fully healed before you do, because not only will it obviously really freaking burn but it slows healing.
Hope some of that helped. Good luck!
