Its mostly because of society and the social media.
Girls are seen as being dainty and beautiful, whereas guys are seen as macho and manly.
So its pretty much what Barbara said. Guys think it makes them more attractive if their very manly, just like girls think they won't be attractive unless they are small and cute.
