I would've just been sitting in the waiting room doing nothing. However, at that time my boyfriend was in the hospital in very bad condition in the intensive care unit. I stayed with him instead of accompanying my mother, not because I care about him more than my mother, but because he needed me a lot more than my mother did.

So really, it depends on the situation at hand. In some cases I may put my boyfriend first, in others my family. It's not really a yes or no question. There are too many different circumstances to answer with a solid yes or no.
