For me, it definitely has helped. I don't actually draw butterflies on myself, mainly because they look like poor little creatures that have been stepped on. Lol. But, I do focus on the people that mean something to me to stop myself from cutting. I think about how hurt they would be if they knew what I was doing to myself. So, it's not exactly the same thing, but it's the same basic concept! But, don't get discouraged if this doesn't work out or if it stops working.
