Re: Your Religious and/or Spiritual Beliefs Version III - March 2nd 2009, 04:33 AM

For the record, I'm Jewish, but not sure how Torah-observant I'll end up being. I believe wholeheartedly in G-d, but am a little hesitant about how His laws are interpreted sometimes. We'll see once I'm out of boarding school and in the real world.

Also, I read in this poll that "agnostic" means "not sheep" in Latin. I wasn't sure if this was a joke or not. If it was, I'd chuckle a little, but in the interest of clearing that up so we're not spreading the hate (), I thought I'd give the Oxford English Dictionary Etymology:
Greek
a meaning "not" (that part was right on)
gnosis meaning investigation or knowledge, used by Christian writers to mean knowledge of higher/spiritual powers.
So agnostic meaning not pertaining to investigation or knowledge of higher spiritual powers.

Week before, they all seemed the same.
