Re: Have you ever bullied someone? - February 10th 2011, 05:49 AM

The bullying I did was somewhat ironic because as I was bullying someone else, whether it be because other kids did it (usually that was the reason) or I had a person dislike, usually I was also being bullied. So I was a bully and being bullied at the same time. That was during elementary school so the bullying I did often did not last long and at later grades, I saw some other kids bullying this one fellow whom I also bullied (since other kids did the same). I think I was watching a movie or show the night before and I was recalling that movie and this fellow, then I realized how much I disliked being bullied. I thought if I disliked being bullied, then that fellow must dislike it even more. In the end, I stopped.

Around grade 8/9, I used more of a manipulation tactic on some people which I guess could qualify as bullying. Reason was although I had high marks on my own, they weren't the best and well, I wanted higher so I tried to manipulate those kids who got the higher marks.

During high-school, I manipulated again for the same reason but I did less of it because I had a strong dislike to another student, who also disliked me. He had about 4-7 friends who assisted with him in bullying particular people. The way he behaved in this is mostly what made me dislike him so much so I stood up for those people. As a result, he attempted to do his worst because not only was he not fond of me but I also stood up for those people. As he tried to bully me, I did the same and at first it was about 6-1 then it dwindled down until it was 2-1 then 1-1 because his friends became my friends, somewhat through manipulating them but also from discovering there was more to them than I thought and vice-verca. That was the main bullying during high-school.

The way this kid worked is he would get his friends to do the "dirty work" then he'd come in but only if he was behind his wall of friends. As it became 1-1, he bullied me but whenever I'd begin with him, he'd try to leave. He did take some swings at me but at the time I was doing some martial arts and knew enough self-defense. After he did those swings and failed, the bullying between us intensified until he got more submissive and I got more dominant.

Looking back, I do feel like I degraded myself from the senseless bullying but the manipulation I always ended so it was brief.
