Birth control vs. pregnant -

I'm not sure if this should go in pregnancy or in sex, but here goes.
I'm on birth control pills, and a lot of the time, they make me skip my period. Every month I get freaked out, because my period doesn't come, and I start thinking I must be pregnant. Other than the obvious taking a pregnancy test every month, are there ways to try to tell the difference between when your birthcontrol is causing skipped periods, and when it's an actual pregnancy? So far I've just been buying pregnancy tests every month, but that's starting to get expensive seeing as every time it turns out just to be my pills. Any other signs I can look for?
Not around so much now that school's started
"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones." Marcus Aurelius
