I am atheist and that isn't gonna change just to get that out of the way first

I have seen religious people say religion is all good but it is not but it isn't all bad I'm glad to say the kind of religious people that I find on this site aren't the kind I would call bad

so I got thinking what is good about it and what is bad about it

I would like to know what the good is I can give most of the bad (stereotypical I know)

what I see as bad about religion:

schools having to fight to teach evolution which is seen as scientific fact and most arguments against seem to misunderstand it

making things overcomplicated for gays and bi's

trying to convert the world

seeing every one who disagrees with you as evil

terrorism makes people more willing to die/kill because death isn't the end

sexism

these are things I have seen born from religion it is likely that none of these will apply to most of the people reading this

be offended or don't thats your choice

this information is incomplete what do you think is good about religion?

I am looking for things that are current so if it was 100 years ago then it doesn't count. you aren't going keep a worn out hammer around because you managed to fix something with it before it wore out
(meaning past usefulness doesn't justify clinging to a tool that is now useless)
