You usally wash each other all over with soap and take turns rinsing off. Showering together is one of those things you can do to get to know each other's bodies and get more comfortable with each other since you touch each other all over, even those sensitive spots. It doesn't have to lead to sex, and it's one of those things you can do before you decide you're ready to actually have sex. The more stuff like this you do, and stuff like hand jobs/fingering, the more relaxed and certain you are when the time comes.
