Red tattoo dye is known to carry the highest risk of allergic reactions amongst all dyes. In some cases, depending on the choice of ink at a particular tattoo shop certain dyes present in foods may be present in the ink; for example Red Dye #40 has been used in certain ink brands. It's quite possible you could have an allergic reaction, although since it is a different form of absorbtion you would probably experience the general rash and irritation. To be safe though, it would probably be best to speak with your preferred tattoo shop as well as your doctor.
