Don't worry. As I read, why you don't try something else? I mean, what you considering funny it's not funny for the others. Listen their conversation and elaborate. If you can "touch" their interests or what they're seeking for, you will be at the center of their attention. Won't be easy at start, but I'm sure you will do it.
