Hi, I have autism and ADHD, and once the right help and support is in place, whether thats OT, DBT, or other therapies, or medication, it does get easier.
I find that when I feel shitty that doing something I enjoy or that I find calming helps me, so for me that could be something like watching my favourite film, engaging in one of my special interests, doing some colouring or getting out in nature.
Maybe you could explain to your mum about 'masking' and how in social situations due to masking you can appear to have everything going steady and functioning, but inside it's a different story all together.
