Somewhat related but my professor always told me to stay active on LinkedIN. I never do. 
For work history I put the position, year, and what I was responsible for doing. Nothing insanely detailed, but a sentence or two.
For the “about” section I put my skills, relevant degree, and the presentation I did for a conference.
Mind you, I barely use my LinkedIN so maybe someone else has better advice!
