I know you worked with him for years and that all of this is new to all of you. But, those aren't excuses; this is common sense. You don't drown 4 people by leaving them to handle the entire store on a Sunday, then cut hours by 2/3 overnight, while BEGGING for new hires, and not expect people to get mad. They're going to create an impossible situation and place impossible expectations on us and people will stop putting up with it. He can be (and is) one of the most amazing people on the planet, but loving your manager doesn't pay your bills or magically make you capable of managing unreasonable expectations.
