___ of the week. - May 28th 2021, 02:09 AM

I've realised that most of my favourite TV shows follow the format of "[thing] of the week", where each episode is kind of self-contained but there's also longer-running plots for each season. For example monster of the week for fantasy, case of the week for medical dramas, etc. I think with the way my brain works it's just easier to stay interested if there's a payoff at the end of most episodes and at the end of the season, rather than trying to keep track of several season-long arcs that take multiple episodes to resolve. Hopefully I've explained that well, if not feel free to ask for elaboration.

Anyway, my question is: what are some of your favourite shows that follow this format? Any genre is welcome, although I do have a soft spot for fantasy. Feel free to add in what the show's about and/or why you love it!
