So, what is it about adulthood that is better for you? Have you noticed any changes in your life in the years since becoming a legal adult and/or finishing school? Is there anything you wish was different about your life?
Adulthood is definitely MUCH better because I don't have to go to secondary school anymore. I did enjoy certain parts of school but I think on the whole it made me feel very unhappy in my skin and I've become more accepting of myself since growing up. I've also been able to narrow down the people around me and now my group of friends is smaller, but much better and I feel supported by them which is better for me. I do wish I was in a better place job-wise. Naive teenage me always thought she'd have it all figured out by 25, but I basically feel like a small child still fumbling around adulthood
What about the negatives? What do you say could be different? How big of a change would it be? Since we can't go back in time, how can you work towards these changes from here on out? Do you think you could ever get there?
Independence is kind of a negative I suppose because I'm basically free to make all my own choices, and I don't like that responsibility because the effects they have last longer. For example, I wish I'd studied something which would have given me a way into a job, so I'd be in a career I enjoyed by now rather than one I don't like.
What advice do you have for those who are just becoming legal adult or are about to graduate from high school/university?
My advice would be: if your plans change that's okay. Honestly none of the plans I had for adulthood have stayed the same as they were when I was younger.
For those who feel they are more on the successful side of adulthood, do you have any advice for those who are struggling in their 20s and 30s? What is it that you've done to bring you where you are today?
I don't feel like this bit relates to me.
