I think most therapists know that people get busy and cannot always contact them.

I know that I have firm boundaries in place with my clients and if they call they have to give me 24 hours to call back. If I don't call within that 24 hour period than they can call me again.

I have some BPD clients who I've had to talk to about this especially if they call multiple times in a day and it's not an emergency.

Do I worry if the client doesn't call me? If I go multiple days without hearing from them I do start to worry because it's not a normal occurrence, so, I think that when something abnormal occurs (such as the client not calling) then they do get worried.
