I feel like my country is handling absolutely, without a doubt, in the most crappy way imaginable. Nearly 100,000 have died. There's far over a million cases. And our leadership, both on a national and (for me) a state level, is just barreling right on ahead with opening up the economy. I'd like to say I'm surprised but by this point I'm not, really. I have friends who are sick or have been sick with COVID-19, and they report it being absolutely awful. I have friends who've lost their jobs. This is real, and this is affecting people. It could affect me on a personal level, eventually, or my roommate. We could get sick and maybe die. But that doesn't matter, right, as long as people can get their hair cut and their nails done.
