Re: Self-harm and how to improve -
February 2nd 2016, 06:49 AM
Like it was already said, talking to people when you want to self-harm can be helpful. You can talk about what's upsetting you or you can just talk about whatever you'd like to and use that as a good distraction. I know it can be hard because you feel like you've hurt your boyfriend, and those feelings can make you want to do it again. Maybe you can tell him that you'll be sure to try some coping skills before you self-harm instead of promising him you won't self-harm. If there is anything in particular your boyfriend can do to help, let him know. Be open about what you need, even if that is space.
I suggest keeping a journal or a blog so you have your own private space to talk about whatever is on your mind. A lot of good can come from getting things out of your head because keeping it all in can become too much for you to take. Here are some alternatives for you to take a look at.
If clarity's in death, then why won't this die?
Years of tearing down our banners, you and I
Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts
Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first
The axe forgets, but the tree remembers
