Another "tattoo idea help" thread - April 19th 2009, 02:52 PM

I want a tattoo but I need some help on ideas for the tattoo itself, size and position.
I think tattoos should be personal and have a story behind them and be original.
I will not be getting this tattoo for about another 2 years but I am thinking of ideas and looking for respected safe tattoo parlours now.

I have been thinking up some ideas and I know I want the tattoo for my grandparents.

My favourite idea so far is a dove.
My Nan's name means "Peace" or "Goddess of Peace" and my Grandad's name means Graceful.
So I put together Graceful and peace and though of a dove with an olive branch. I know this isn't very original so I was thinking of something I could add to it.

My Grandad is suffering from Multiple Myeloma and the ribbon for that is burgundy so I was thinking of having the ribbon in the background and then the dove on top.

Another idea is
My Grandad loves gardening so I was thinking of getting a Peace lily. Peace for my Nan and the flower for my Grandad.
This tattoo would be bigger than the dove and I want to keep it simple and small.

I want it to be small and simple so the dove would just be an outline.
It needs to be easily covered up for future jobs.
I want to be able to see it so I don't want it on my back and I don't want it in a place that will stretch when I get pregnant in the future.

So I was just wondering what you all thought of my idea and if anyone had any other ideas or suggestions for placement.

Here is an image of the dove I would like, just plain with a bit of shading.

And here is the support ribbon for multiple myeloma. This one looks more red but it is meant to be this colour
