It's pretty normal - hormones are still flying all over the place, even if it's not to the same extent as when you were younger, so occasionally they'll spring a nasty surprise like that. It's nothing to worry about, and it will settle down in time. Until then, the best thing to do is be aware of it and have a few fallback plans to cover for it if it happens at a particularly unwelcome time. If it helps, it does at least show you've got a good blood supply down there so take that as a positive if nothing else.
