13 years gone by. A 9/11 Poem. - September 11th 2014, 05:18 AM

"Thirteen years gone by."

Together we stand here,
Holding each other, hand in hand.
Deeply grieved, but still standing with pride,
To remember the innocent people,
Who died murderously planned.

Days pass and months go by,
Years fade as time goes on.
Memories will pass and fade away,
But this one will never be gone.

By a plane these men did,
Strike fear into us all.
Many people were able to run,
But the towers they did fall.

To later generations this will seem to be,
Another time in history that we can all forget.
Let it be known that from that day on,
There will be tears shed with regret.

The planes that took the towers down,
Hoped to take away our hope with their attack.
Little did they know that our strength would build,
And that we would stand and bounce back.

To the people who died in these horrid tragedies,
They were happy and never thought they'd die that day.
We will always remember them and that they've done,
They bodies may wither but their memory will never decay.

To the people died in the Pentagon,
From the change of direction and the hostile lash.
To the brave men and women who acted,
And saved many lives by making that plane crash.

To the brave people who ran inside,
Saving as many as they can through the fire.
Even when hope was dim and rubble falling down,
You put your lives through a situation so dire.

To the children that were orphaned because of this,
And the spouses that went home with tears in their eyes.
May you never let those people depart from your hearts,
As the smoke cleared and revealed blue skies.

Let God watch over us and keep us safe from harm,
And give us strength and courage to follow through.
Be strong through the rough and bravery under fire,
We stand together forever, may God be with us.

I have started writing poems on 9/11 about the events of that day.
These are all in honor of the people that lost their lives,
including two friends of mine. May they rest in peace.
