--Comments like that are the reason stigma exists. To make matters worse, you married into a family with an extensive history of mental illnesses including a suicide and your stepdaughter will soon be a mental health professional! You don't know anyone who has been through this, until you do, you just won't get it.
-- It's none of my business, but I know that's a struggle for you. I hope that you can get whatever help you need to manage it for the sake of yourself and your son. It's especially important for you as a single parent, you don't need me to tell you that. I know someone who died after struggling with it his whole life, I'm afraid the same thing could happen to you and you have a young child. Because of roles and boundary issues, it's impossible and completely inappropriate for me to ever tell you this, but I really wish I could. I wish I could help you somehow.
-- Same to you, I worry more about you mentally and him physically, but I would say the same thing to both of you.
