The Edge (poem) - November 14th 2013, 05:30 AM

I was casually talking to my friend in gym class, and I said something kind of epic (it's the last two lines if this poem) and I got the inspiration for this. Not that I'm tooting my own horn or anything, I just think what I said sounded cool, lol.

Let's say you're on a building
Being pushed closer to the edge.
Slowly, slowly, slowly,
Creeping toward the ledge.

You struggle all you can,
To fight this fiendish force,
You conjure up your might,
And strength and will of course.

But you started to weaken
As the force keeps pushing you.
Still, you keep on fighting
Though there's not much you can do.

Soon your limbs go limp,
You sure have sealed your fate
You want to keep on fighting,
Only it's too late.

As you look down,
All knotted up inside,
You also stand there feeling
This strangest sense of pride.

You know you gave it all you had
As you reach the end of your story.
At last you know, you finally know,
You'll go down in a blaze of glory.

The force pushes you off.
Now you're hurling toward the ground.
And as you fall you think,
But do not make a sound.

"It's better that I went down
As a fighter, not a slump.
Because, you know, I always say,
It's better to fall than jump."
