A poem and a song - April 23rd 2013, 02:15 AM

Hello my muffins! I feel like it's been so long! Well, it has been. I've missed you! <3

So here's a poem I wrote today in less than five minutes. We had a legitimate poet visit our school today (he performs and publishes his poetry and everything ), and he had us do a free-write about a place we go to to be alone. I wrote this, and he made me read it and then we analysed it for ten minutes, and he said he really liked it

My Place

Down a path of
bricks and dirt
to a shady place
beyond my own
front yard.
Gasping breaths
and easy breezes
lead to the place
where everything halts:
except for a bird's call
and a car's singing wheels.
Grass and turf blend together
at an old baseball field
with abandoned stands
and a concession booth
hanging cold
and empty.

And if you're interested, this is a song I wrote during school a week ago, I believe. It's pretty sad I've been told, but I really like it.
