What are hypoallergenic earrings?
By Emma (Golfing girl)

Hypoallergenic earrings are a type of earrings that are made for people who have sensitive ears. They are made out of silver, copper, titanium, sterling silver, and 18k gold. The regular earrings are made out of wood, plastic, glass and a lot more irritants in them that many people don't even think about, they look cute so they wear them.

If you have sensitive ears and you wear regular earrings, you may have an allergic reaction immediately or after a few hours. It's not fun when you are wearing earrings and you have a reaction to it. When this happens, it can make you feel like you don't want to wear your earrings. Hypoallergenic earrings are made so that you can put them on and wear them for as long as you like, from 30 minutes to a whole day. These earrings make sure your ears don't hurt, burn, itch, get red or get a horrible infection.

When you get an ear infection from your earrings, wash your hands with warm soap and water. Then take out your earrings carefully. If you need some help you can ask a parent or sibling or someone else. Take some sensitive soap or another soap you like to use and wash your ears. If your ear is really bad you will want to go and see a doctor and let them know what happened to your ear so that they can give you something to help you. Your ears will get better in a few weeks and you will not be able to wear earrings while they are healing.

It is totally fine to sleep in your earrings, although you may want to wear smaller studs so that they don't get caught in your pillow or blanket. If you do have sensitive ears you may not want to sleep in them so that you do not have any problems with hair getting into them. When you are putting in your earrings you never want to have the backs pushed on so tight, this will also hurt your ears and you don't want this to happen. You can twist your earrings when you have then in, just make sure that your hands are washed with soap and water so you don't get an infection.

When you are shopping for hypoallergenic earrings you will want to look for the label on the front of the earrings. So many stores sell them, Claire's, Meijer, Walmart, Target and Amazon. If you try one of the hypoallergenic earrings and you have a reaction to them, you can try a different pair of hypoallergenic earrings and see if they are more suitable. Try to stay calm when you are looking for earrings and putting them in because you want to have fun wearing them.
