I want this to work! -
March 4th 2012, 12:00 AM
So, it's been a little less than three months since the guy I love broke up with me. It took me a while to get over him, but I'm finally starting to move on more. Of course, now that I'm moving on, my ex wants to talk to me more. There's this guy named Evan who I like, and he likes me too, and I think something could happen between us soon. I'm not completely over my last boyfriend, but I want me and Evan to work out.. and I just feel really weird about everything. Like the thought of being with someone different weirds me out. Is there anything I can do or think to help that weird feeling go away??
It'll all be okay in the end. I promise. c:

Its not a good idea to date when you still aren't over someone else. When you're with Evan, you might start thinking of your ex. You need to be emotionally stable in a relationship, and if you still are fragile from your last relationship then any hurt could end up hurting even more.
I know you want this to work, but its best to take some time for yourself to get over him. The best way to get over your ex is to cut off contact, so it may be best to just ignore him for now.
And here you are living, despite it all.

It's not wise to date someone while you're still trying to get over someone else, as Nicole said. It's not fair for everyone involved: You're still reeling over your break up with your ex, so you can't fully commit to this new guy. And, Evan might feel he's been played or even lead on because you haven't fully moved on your past relationship. Your best bet would be to avoid and end contact with your ex until you've completely moved on. Being with someone new is going to be weird, but in the end, it will all be worth it.

So feeling weird in a new relationship is normal? Because I really think I'm over my ex..

If you just think you're over him, it's likely that you aren't. It's normal to feel weird. Your ex was a part of your life, and now he isn't. Trying something new with someone new is going to be different, but it's going to be worth it in the long run. But, you need to be ABSOLUTELY sure that you're over your ex.
