Are they dating? - December 6th 2010, 08:39 PM

If a guy and a girl (late teens/ early twenties) go to the cinema together, just the two of them, without any other friends is this a sign that they are dating or that they fancy each other and might be about to start dating soon?

All opinions welcome

Not necessarily. It could be a sign that they are dating or might want to date each other, but they could also just be really good friends.

It's been awhile, but I've gone to the movies with just a (female) friend of mine, just as something to do so we can hang out, and it's never turned into something more :P

There are a lot of other factors that determine whether two people are interested in dating, and while spending time together (mostly) alone is one of them, it's not definitive.

Hope this helped a bit

Who knows? It could be a sign that they're good friends and they're just going out. Or they could potentially end up dating. No one knows but them.

You can't just assume that they're dating.

It totally depends, I've gone out with my guy friends quite a few times to the theatre (alone) but there hasn't been anything between us other than friendship and the fact that we both wanted to see the movie.

Not necessarily...I have guy friends I might go to the cinema just the two of us and it would mean nothing, just hanging out, although it would generally be more of a casual or last-minute decision and it would be more likely to just be the two of us if we'd invited other people who hadn't been able to go.

Maybe they just wanted to see a move.
