I have been single for a while now, but I think I have fallen in love with my best friend. I have been hanging out with him a lot more recently, we have been going for coffee and stuff but I am way too nervous to tell him how I feel, I'm also scared that he won't feel the same way.

I was in the same situation a few years back. I ended up writing him a letter confessing my feelings as I was to shy to tell him in person. He didn’t feel the same way but we are still best friends to this day and I’m glad I did tell him as it gave me closure. It is up to you to decide but for me personally, I would rather take the risk than have to live with the “what ifs”. If he does feel the same about you, it may be awkward for a bit but if he’s a true friend, you shouldn’t lose him.

I am going to write him a letter and tell him how I feel. I know either way he will still stay because of how close we already are. I am willing to take a risk to see if he has the same feelings or not. Thank you for the advice.

I wrote him a letter, I need to give him it tomorrow when we meet up. I am so nervous about all of this.

As someone who has confessed my feelings to a friend (not a bestie though) before, I can assure that it is very liberating, regardless of how things turn out. Remember you did the right thing irrespective of his response.

I gave him the letter. It went great, it turns out he felt the same way and we are going on our first date next week! I am super excited.
